“The entrance (pêthach: opening, doorway, a place to go in) of Your words GIVES LIGHT; It gives understanding to the simple.” (Psa. 119:130) Deception takes us where we do not want to go. God’s Word AS AN ENTRANCE is very interesting. God’s Word is a doorway, it can take us where God want’s us to go and we can enter there. Truth takes us into God’s reality; as we prayerfully read and meditate on God’s word, it lights up the way for us to further understanding.
Unfortunately, “There are those who REBEL against the light; They do not know its ways Nor stand in its paths…” (Job 24:13) That is why Jesus said, “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and THERE ARE MANY WHO GO IN BY IT. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are FEW WHO FIND IT.” (Matt. 7:13-14)
That’s why David prayed, “Direct my steps BY YOUR WORD, And let no iniquity have dominion (shalat: exercise power) over me.” (Psa. 119:133) “…Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, “If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; and you will KNOW THE TRUTH, and the truth will MAKE YOU FREE.“ (John 8:31-32) What will it make them free from? God wanted to offer GRACE to Israel, but when He spoke to the Jews, they WERE TERRIFIED, they told Moses “You speak to us, and we will listen. But DON’T LET GOD SPEAK directly TO US, or we will die!” (Exo. 20:19) “They stubbornly tested God in their hearts…for THEY DID NOT BELIEVE GOD OR TRUST HIM to care for them.” (Psa. 78:18-22) So, God gave them the Law, Jesus wanted to SET THEM FREE from bondage of the Law, just like He wants to SET US FREE from the bondage of unbelief…
