David prayed, “Give ear to my words, O LORD, Consider my meditation. Give heed to the voice of my cry, My King and my God, For TO YOU I WILL PRAY. My voice You shall hear in the morning, O LORD; IN THE MORNING I WILL DIRECT IT TO YOU, AND I WILL LOOK UP.” (Psa. 5:1-3)
The Jewish people had real problems with worshiping false gods such as, Ba’al, who is mentioned about 90 times in the Bible and Dagon, the god of the harvest, the goddess Asherah was worshipped in the earliest Temple of Jerusalem – Mot, the personification of death, is described in several passages as a deity. Yarekh, use as the name of the moon god. the ancient Hebrews worshipped a god named Moloch, who was associated with the Ammonites and with child sacrifice and many’ many others. This is how the only true and living God responded to these false gods.
“To you it was shown, that you might know that the LORD Himself is God; THERE IS NONE OTHER BESIDES HIM.” (Deut. 4:35) “Therefore You are great, O Lord GOD. For there is none like You, NOR IS THERE ANY GOD BESIDES YOU, according to all that we have heard with our ears.” (2 Sam. 7:22) “Thus says the LORD, the LORD of hosts: “I AM THE FIRST AND I AM THE LAST; BESIDES ME THERE IS NO GOD.” (Isa. 44:6)
