“Jesus, bearing His cross, went out to a place called the PLACE OF A SKULL, which is called in Hebrew, Golgotha…” (John 19:17) When Jesus was crucified, HIS BLOOD POURED OUT ON THE TOP OF THAT SKULL, very appropriate because Satan’s primary method is to ATTACK OUR MINDS, he uses these three weapons! He appeals to the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life.
“Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the LUST of the FLESH, the EYES, and the PRIDE OF LIFE—IS NOT OF THE FATHER but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who DOES THE WILL OF GOD ABIDES FOREVER.” (1 John 2:15-17) Remember this, Jesus looked down upon those who crucified Him and unjustly spit upon Him and sought to humiliate Him, and said, “Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they do.” (Luke 23:34).
John has a way of teaching us who Jesus is and what faith looks like, by giving us a glimpse into Jesus’ encounters with various people — John the Baptist, Nicodemus, and surprisingly, a Samaritan woman who is shunned by her own townspeople for her IMMORAL BEHAVIOR. Jesus was waiting by Jacob’s well, ”…Jesus therefore, being wearied from His journey, sat down by the well. It was about the sixth hour. A woman of Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her, “Give Me a drink.” (John 4:6-7) Jesus encountered this woman because Satan had ATTACKED HER MIND and convince her that it was ok to be married five times and now living with a man who was not her husband. Jesus talked to her about worshiping God. He said, “…the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father IN SPIRIT AND TRUTH; for the Father is SEEKING SUCH TO WORSHIP HIM. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must WORSHIP IN SPIRIT AND TRUTH.” (John 4:23-24)
Jesus put into this WOMAN’S MIND and into OUR MINDS, THE TRUE WAY TO WORSHIP GOD, GOD IS A SPITITUAL BEING SO, WE WORSHIP HIM IN SPIRIT AND IN TRUTH… WHAT IS TRUTH? “GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD THAT HE GAVE HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON…”
