“Let the WORDS OF MY MOUTH and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD, my rock and my Redeemer.” (Psalms 19:14)
We can try so hard to be a blessing in what we say but sometimes, it is a challenge to speak words that do not cause someone pain! Why is this? “The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. IT CORRUPTS THE WHOLE BODY, sets the whole course of one’s life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.” (James 3:6)
In a moment of anger we may say something very hurtful and it can never be taken back! THOSE WORDS WILL ALWAYS BE THERE! In someone’s memory, no matter how much we beg for forgiveness the devil will see to it that what we said will continue to cause hurt! So, we must be prayerfully careful in what we say!
“Like apples of gold in settings of silver Is A WORD SPOKEN IN RIGHT CIRCUMSTANCES.” (Pro. 25:11)
Our words can cause great encouragement in someone who is suffering! The Lord is so gracious to help us speak the right words at just the right time. Again, I say: we must be prayerfully careful in what we say!
One more point I would like to make: “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion LOOKING FOR SOMEONE TO DEVOUR. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.” (1 Peter 5:8-9)
Have you ever wondered why the devil must SEEK whom he may devour? If the devil has so much power as many are lead to believe, then you would think that the devil would NOT have to SEEK whom he may devour, but that HE WOULD DEVOUR EVERYONE HE CAME ACROSS. That is why we are told to be ALERT and of 1SOBER mind. (1nēphō: to be free from the influence of intoxication). A drunk person ceases to care about what they say, I know this from formally being an alcoholic, that is why if we are alert (which is the state of being watchful for possible danger), and sober minded; THE DEVIL MUST LOOK ELESEWHERE for someone to devour!
“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, AND HE WILL FLEE FROM YOU.” (James 4:7)
If I have every offended you, in any way. I ask you to please forgive me…Bill Stockham
