“As you therefore have RECEIVED Christ Jesus the Lord, so WALK IN HIM, ROOTED and BUILT UP in Him and ESTABLISHED IN THE FAITH, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving.” (Col. 2:6-7) We are called to walk worthy of our Lord and to be obedient in our Christian walk – but this can only happen as we live in obedience to Him, rest in Him, trust our lives into His safe-keeping and walk in spirit and truth. It is only as we WILLINGLY CHOOSE to be submitted to the leading and guidance of the Holy Spirit in our lives that we can truly walk worthy of our Lord, in spirit and in truth – it is only as we receive from Him that we are enabled to WALK IN HIM.
Paul’s sincere encouragement to us is about OUR CHOICE. When we are Truly BORN–AGAIN BELIEVERS we can choose to take the spiritual path and FOLLOW in the footsteps of the Master and so walk in Him, or we can choose a selfishly personal walk, in which case we follow OUR OWN WILL, and walk in OUR OWN WAYS. This is known as a DEATH-WALK! Why? “…you He made alive, who were DEAD in trespasses and sins, in which you once WALKED according to the course of this world, according to the PRINCE OF THE POWER OF THE AIR (the devil)…” (Eph. 2:1-2) There are ONLY two choices of whom we walk with. We are born in a sinful nature and WALK WITH THE DEVIL, like it or not! When we accept Christ in our life, we begin our awesome and wonderful WALK WITH JESUS!!!
