“How blessed is the man whose transgression is forgiven, Whose sin is covered! How blessed is the man to whom the LORD does not IMPUTE INIQUITY (the Message says, “GOD holds nothing against you and you’re holding nothing back from Him”), And in whose spirit there is no deceit!” (Psa. 32:1-2)
When we repent of our sins and ask for forgiveness, the Lord DOES NOT IMPUTE (châshab: to think upon, consider, be mindful of) our forgiven transgressions. As my granddaughter says “but wait” He’s God, how could God forget? “He has not dealt with us according to our sins, Nor punished us according to our iniquities. For as the heavens are high above the earth, SO GREAT IS HIS MERCY toward those who fear Him; As far as THE EAST IS FROM THE WEST, So far has He REMOVED OUR TRANSGRESSIONS from us.” (Psa. 103:10-12) Well, just what does God do with our sins? “Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy. You will again have compassion on us; you will TREAD our sins underfoot and HURL ALL OUR INIQUITIES INTO THE DEPTHS OF THE SEA.” (Micah 7:18-19) God has the ability to blot out our transgressions. “I, even I, am he who BLOTS OUT your transgressions, for my own sake, and REMEMBERS YOUR SINS NO MORE.” (Isa. 43:25)
David committed adultery with Bathsheba and at the beginning of this writing had not repented, “When I kept silent, my BONES WASTED AWAY through my GROANING (šᵊ‘āḡâ: a rumbling or strong moaning) all day long. For day and night your hand was heavy on me; my strength was sapped as in the heat of summer. Then I ACKNOWLEDGED MY SIN TO YOU and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, “I will CONFESS MY TRANSGRESSIONS to the LORD.” And YOU FORGAVE THE GUILT OF MY SIN.” (Psa. 32:3-5)
IF WE AS CHRISTIANS COMMIT SIN, WE WILL “WASTE AWAY” UNTIL WE REPENT AND ASK GOD FOR FORGIVENESS!!! REPENT, SO YOUR SIN WILL BE COVERED BY GOD…
