“Jesus came to Jericho…a large crowd went out of Jericho, blind Bartimeus…was sitting…begging. And when he heard that it was Jesus…HE BEGAN TO CRY OUT…Jesus, son of David, have mercy on me! And many warned him…BE QUIET, but HE CRIED A GREAT DEAL MORE, Son of David, have mercy on me! And Jesus STOOD STILL and COMMANDED HIM TO BE CALLED. And they called him, Be of good comfort; rise up, He is calling you. And CASTING AWAY HIS GARMENT, he rose up and came to Jesus who said, “WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO FOR YOU?“ The blind man said…My Lord, that I may see again. And Jesus said…“Go, YOUR FAITH HAS HEALED YOU.” And instantly he saw again, and HE FOLLOWED JESUS IN THE WAY.” (Mark 10:46-52)
What we notice here is that a large crowd went out to see Jesus, probably with several “large” needs but only blind Bartimeus CRIED OUT to Jesus. The people near him tried to quiet him down but he was determined to be healed so he “CRIED OUT” even louder!!! What was the result? JESUS STOOD STILL! Now, WILL, this is exactly what happens when you cry out to Jesus, HE STOPS AND LISTENS TO YOU BECAUSE YOU ARE HIS “JOINT-HEIR” (Rom. 8-17). Notice, the blind man comes but first he casts away his garment! Why is that significant? Because that was a special garment he wore, signifying he was blind! What does this tell us, he knew he was about to be healed!!! He came to Jesus and was asked “what do you want me to do?” didn’t Jesus know that he was blind? Yes, of course but what Jesus instruct us to do? “Ask and it will be given to you…” (Matt. 7:7). Jesus said, “go…YOUR FAITH healed you…” Where did Bartimeus go? He FOLLOWED JESUS in the way…
Jesus is so absolutely amazing, just keep following Him WILL it’ll be awesome…
