Paul who spent years persecuting Christians said this, “For you have heard of my former conduct in Judaism, how I PERSECUTED THE CHURCH OF GOD BEYOND MEASURE and tried to destroy it.” (Galatians 1:13) Then Paul said something profound, “…when it pleased God, who SEPARATED ME FROM MY MOTHER’S WOMB AND CALLED ME THROUGH HIS GRACE, to reveal His Son in me, that I might preach Him among the Gentiles…” (Galatians 1:15-16)
On the road to Damascus God fulfilled this calling He had for Paul, even after all the evil Paul had done to God’s Church! Because “You made all the delicate, inward parts of my body and knit them together in my mother’s womb…You saw me BEFORE I WAS BORN. EVERY DAY of my life was RECORDED IN YOUR BOOK. EVERY MOMENT WAS LAID OUT before a single day had passed.” (Psalms 139:13, 16) Why was Paul doing all the persecuting against the work of God? Well, you see, God plans our life (each one of us) but it’s up to us whether we OBEY GOD or not.
Remember when the high priest said to the apostles, “We gave you strict orders not to continue teaching in this name…Peter and the apostles answered, “WE MUST OBEY GOD RATHER THAN MEN.” (Acts 5:28-29) Things radically change when we accept our calling.
THIS IS THE SAME PETER WHO, THREE TIMES, DENIED EVEN KNOWING THE LORD. (Luke 22:57-61)
