WHATEVER YOU SAY…

Abraham and Sarah were childless, God spoke with Abraham, “As for Me, behold, My covenant is with you, and you shall be a father of many nations.(Gen. 17:3-4) Now, the problem was, Abraham was old, Abraham fell on his face and laughed, and said in his heart, “Shall a child be born to a man who is one hundred years old? And shall Sarah, who is ninety years old, bear a child?” (Gen. 17:17) Abraham had to preform his husbandly duty for Sarah to become pregnant so, he did and she did and Isaac was born.

God tested Abraham, and said, “Abraham! Take now your son, whom you love, and go to Moriah, and offer him there as a BURNT OFFERING on the mountain which I shall tell you. (Gen. 22:1-2) WHAT! Does the Lord know what He is asking??? Of course, He told Abraham he would be the father of many nations! Did Abraham believe that God would help him? Abraham said to his young men, “Stay here with the donkey; the lad and I will go yonder and worship, and WE WILL come back to you.” (Gen. 22:5) Abraham built an altar there and placed the wood in order; and he bound Isaac his son and laid him on the altarAbraham took the knife to slay his son. But the Angel of the LORD called to him from heaven and said, “Abraham, Abraham!” So he said, “Here I am.” And He said, “Do not lay your hand on the lad, or do anything to him; for now I know that you fear God, since YOU HAVE NOT WITHHELD YOUR SON, from Me.” (Gen. 22:9-12)
