“…GREAT FEAR came upon all the church…” (Acts 5:11) This was an important reminder to people of the first and greatest commandment: “…you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength.’ this is the first and great commandment.” (Mark 12:30)
Ananias then his wife told a lie about how much money they were giving to the Lord so Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart TO LIE to the Holy Spirit… YOU HAVE NOT LIED TO MEN BUT TO GOD.” Then Ananias, fell down and breathed his last.” Then about three hours later Sapphira came in and told the same lie and fell down dead, “So GREAT FEAR CAME UPON ALL THOSE WHO HEARD THESE THINGS.” (Acts 5:3-5)
Here is what happened, “All the believers were united in heart and mind. And they felt that what they owned WAS NOT THEIR OWN, SO THEY SHARED EVERYTHING THEY HAD.” (Acts 4:32) Ananias and his wife, Sapphira agreed to secretly hold back some of the money they received from a property sale and lie to the apostles about the amount the received.
ALL LIARS SHALL HAVE THEIR PART IN THE LAKE WHICH BURNS WITH FIRE AND BRIMSTONE. (Rev. 21:8)
