WHAT, ME WORRY?

One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people.

He said, “My son, the battle is between two “wolves” inside us all.

One is Evil.  It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.

The other is Good.  It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith.”

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather:

“Which wolf wins?”

The old Cherokee simply replied, “THE ONE YOU FEED.”

In fact, our word “worry” comes from an Anglo-Saxon word meaning “to strangle” or “to choke.” Which is what worry does—it can literally choke the life out of us. Medical research has shown that it breaks down our resistance to disease and causes a multitude of health related problems, particularly in the heart and digestive organs. Short of death and disease, though, worry affects our overall enjoyment of life.

Be anxious (don’t worry) for nothing, but in everything by prayer and 1supplication, WITH THANKSGIVING, let your requests be made known to God; and THE PEACE OF GOD, which SURPASSES ALL UNDERSTANDING, will guard your HEARTS AND MINDS through Christ Jesus. “Therefore DO NOT WORRY, saying, ‘What shall we eat, drink or wear? For YOUR HEAVENLY FATHER KNOWS THAT YOU NEED ALL THESE THINGS. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and ALL THESE THINGS SHALL BE ADDED TO YOU. (Matt. 6:31-33)
