WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO TRAIN UP A CHILD IN THE WAY HE SHOULD GO?

Dear Chad and Leah,

Solomon’s advice to parents is to, “Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it” (Prov. 22:6). Raising and training a child within the framework of this proverb means that it begins with the Word of God, as “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God (all of that is one Greek word, theopneustos which isGod-breathedwhich means a we read, God is breathing His word INTO US) and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training…” (2 Tim. 3:16). Teaching our children the truths of Scripture will make them wise for salvation, (2 Tim. 3:15) It will thoroughly equip them to do good works, (2 Tim. 3:17); It will prepare them to give an answer to everyone who asks them the reason for their hope, (1 Pet. 3:15); And prepare them to withstand the onslaught of cultures bent on indoctrinating young people with secular values.

Loving grandpa advice!!!
