“What do you want me TO DO FOR YOU?” Jesus asked him. The blind man said, “Rabbi, I WANT TO SEE.” (Mark 10:51)
Why, do you think the Lord, who is omniscient (all knowing), asked a question like this?
“Go,” said Jesus, “your faith has healed you.” IMMEDIATELY he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road.” (Mark 10:52).
This was a blind man, wearing the cloak of a blind man! “Throwing his cloak aside, he jumped to his feet and came to Jesus.” (Mark 10:50).
When we come to Jesus, we must cast away the garment of our own sufficiency, we must strip ourselves of any conceit we may have, and must “…throw off everything that STANDS IN OUR WAY. Let us throw off any sin that holds on to us so tightly…” (Heb. 12:1)
- ♫All to Jesus, I surrender;
- All to Thee I freely give;
- I will ever love and trust You,
- In Your presence, daily live.
- I surrender all,
- I surrender all,
- All to Thee,
- my blessed Savior,
- I SURRENDER ALL.
We must not hold anything back! “those of you who do not give up everything you have cannot be my disciples.” (Luke 14:33)
Now, that sounds very harsh, what do you think Jesus meant by this statement?
“Do not LOVE THE WORLD, or anything in the world. If any man loves [agape’: God’s love] the world, the love [agape’] of the Father is not in him [we cannot agape’ the world and God]. For all that is in the world, the lust [longing for what is forbidden] of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, IS NOT OF THE FATHER, but is of the world. And the world will pass away, and the lust thereof: but he that does the will of God abides [stands with God] forever.” (1 John 2:15-17)
