The threshing floor was a place with strong, steady winds with access to district farmers, and a plot of ground FLAT ENOUGH TO ACCOMMODATE THE THRESHING FLOOR STRUCTURE, was preferred and often determined a threshing floor’s location. For human consumption, the kernels on the cob, with their soft hulls left intact, are removed. The kernels are consumed or dried and GROUND INTO FLOUR. With wheat or barley, the outer harder hulls of the seed are broken or ‘threshed’ from the seed. Sheaves of grain would be opened up and the stalks spread across the threshing floor. Pairs of donkeys or oxen would then be walked round and round, often dragging A HEAVY THRESHING BOARD behind them, to tear the ears of grain from the stalks, and loosen the grain itself from the husks. That’s why the floor needed to be SO FLAT.
“And David and all Israel went up to Kirjath Jearim, to bring up from there the ark of God the LORD, so they carried the ark of God on A NEW CART (because this is how the Philistines returned the ark, they copied the Philistines instead of doing it GOD’S WAY) from the house of Abinadab. Then David and all Israel played music before God with all their might, with singing, on harps…And when they came to Chidon’s threshing floor, Uzza put out his hand to hold the ark, FOR THE OXEN STUMBLED (this was a flat piece of ground why did the oxen stumble?). “Then the anger of the LORD was aroused against Uzza, and He struck him because he PUT HIS HAND TO THE ARK; and he died there before God.” (1 Chronicles 13:6-10) Then the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying: “…do this (all I have taught you) in regard to them, THAT THEY MAY LIVE AND NOT DIE WHEN THEY APPROACH THE MOST HOLY THINGS (like the ark)…” (Numbers 4:17-19)
David went back and studied how to move the ark Then David said, “No one MAY CARRY THE ARK OF GOD BUT THE LEVITES, for the LORD has chosen them to carry the ark of God and to minister before Him forever.” (1 Chronicles 15:2) David said to the Levites, “You are the heads of the fathers’ houses of the Levites; sanctify yourselves, you and your brethren, that YOU MAY BRING UP THE ARK OF THE LORD God of Israel to the place I have prepared for it. For because YOU DID NOT DO IT THE FIRST TIME, THE LORD OUR GOD BROKE OUT AGAINST US, because we did not CONSULT HIM about THE PROPER ORDER.” (1 Chronicles 15:12-13)
IT MUST BE DONE GOD’S WAY…
