Because we have a great high priest, Jesus the Son of God, who has ascended into heaven, “…we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in ALL POINTS tempted as we are, yet WITHOUT SIN. Let us therefore COME BOLDLY to the throne of grace, that we may OBTAIN MERCY and FIND GRACE to help in time of need.” (Heb. 4:15-16) We see this expressed sympathy demonstrated when Christ went to be baptized by John, “When all the people were baptized, it came to pass that JESUS ALSO WAS BAPTIZED; and while He prayed, the heaven was opened. And the HOLY SPIRIT descended in bodily form like a dove upon Him, and a voice came from heaven which said, “You are My beloved Son; in You I AM WELL PLEASED.” (Luke 3:21-22)
Here we see God the Holy Spirit descending on God the Son and God the Father speaking His approval! Certainly demonstrating the triune nature of God!!! Who came down to SET FREE SINFUL MAN! What an awesome God we serve. “…you, Lord, are a COMPASSIONATE and GRACIOUS God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.” (Psa. 86:15) When Moses asked to see God’s glory, he said, “Now show me your glory.” And the LORD said, “I will cause ALL my goodness to pass in front of you, and I will proclaim my name, the LORD, in your presence. I will have MERCY on whom I will have mercy, and I will have COMPASSION on whom I will have compassion.” (Exo. 33:18-19)
Again I say, WHAT AN AWESOME GOD WE SERVE.
