There are subtle attempts to change the depth of meanings in the scripture for example the word THROUGHLY replaced by the word THOROUGHLY. Here is the difference, if you want a sponge THOROUGHLY covered with paint, you would cover the outside with paint. If you want a sponge THROUGHLY covered with paint, you would put it in a bowl, filled with paint and let it be totally saturated, within and without. That is what we want as a Christian to be THROUGHLY filled with Christ.
Another improper use of the word, “And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them THROUGHLY…” (Gen. 11:3KJV). The NIV says, “…bake them THOROUGHLY.” Did they burn the bricks thoroughly, or did they burn them throughly? Many Bibles sloppily interchange those two words. For the record, if they had thoroughly burned the bricks they would not have had any bricks left because they would have burned up. Instead what they desired was a brick that had been evenly heated through in and throughout the entire brick. A brick that has been improperly heated in a kiln would be unsuitable for building. It would easily crumble because parts of it would be still soft whereas other parts of it would have been properly hardened in the kiln.
“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, THROUGHLY (exartizó: to furnish perfectly through in and throughout) furnished unto all good works.” (2 Tim. 3:17 KJV) How we think and how we act. Who we are and what we do. The NIV says “so that the servant of God may be THOROUGHLY (just the outside) equipped for every good work.” (2 Tim. 3:17NIV)
Jesus said “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you cleanse the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of extortion and self-indulgence. Blind Pharisee, first CLEANSE THE INSIDE (so you are throughly clean) of the cup and dish, that the outside of them may be clean also.” (Matt. 23:25-26)
JESUS DESIRES FOR US TO BE SATURATED WITH AND THROUGHLY COMMITTED TO HIM…
