This is a prayer from Paul for us, he says that, “…Christ would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be STRENGTHENED WITH MIGHT through His Spirit in the inner man, that Christ may DWELL IN YOUR HEARTS through faith; that you, being ROOTED AND GROUNDED IN LOVE (agapē), may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— TO KNOW (ginōskō)THE LOVE OF CHRIST which PASSES (huperballo) knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness (plērōma) of God. Now to Him who is able to do EXCEEDINGLY ABUNDANTLY ABOVE all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us…” (Eph. 3:16-20)
What we are being told is that Jesus Christ will grant to us through the Holy Spirit a supernatural strengthening by the Holy Spirit which will enable us to be rooted and grounded in His agapē. Then we’ll be able to intimately understand the love of Christ, which goes far beyond what is to be understand. We’ll be filled with all the fulness or completeness of God, not just filled but filled to capacity. God works in us in an excessive, overflowing, manner that is profuse and above the ordinary of what we could ever think or ask, according to, or in a manner consistent with, His power that works in us.
