“Praise the LORD! PRAISE GOD IN HIS 1SANCTUARY; Praise Him in His mighty expanse.” (Psalms 150:1) 1ko’-desh: a consecrated, dedicated, hallowed place, holiness.
What is God’s sanctuary? Probably, many of us think of it only as a church building. In its widest and richest sense, God’s sanctuary is WHEREVER WE ENCOUNTER GOD. It is the place where our heart meets with God.
This inspiration came to me as I was listening to the song, “Sanctuary”
♫Oh Lord, prepare me to be a sanctuary
Pure and holy, tried and true
With thanksgiving, I’ll be a living
Sanctuary for You
Lead Me on Lord, from temptation
Purify me, from within
Fill my heart with, Your holy spirit
Take away all my sin
“I present my body a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto you Lord, which is my reasonable (true and proper) service.” (Rom. 12:1)
If we are going to be God’s sanctuary, the proper thing for us to do is present our bodies for His use.
“My body is the temple of the HOLY SPIRIT WHO IS IN ME, which I have of God, and I AM NOT MY OWN! I AM BOUGHT WITH A PRICE: therefore [I do] glorify God in my body, and in my spirit, which are God’s.” (1 Corin. 6:20)
With the Holy Spirit IN US, we are truly God’s Sanctuary! I know that, “…the kingdom of God IS WITHIN ME” (Luke 17:21) “the kingdom of God is RIGHTEOUSNESS, and PEACE, and JOY IN THE HOLY SPIRIT.” (Rom. 14:17)
Ok, God’s kingdom is within us, we’re bought with the blood of Jesus, which makes our body God’s temple – filled with righteousness, peace and Holy Spirit joy!!!
Now, that makes us GOD’S SANCTUARY!
