“Joshua overwhelmed the army of Amalek in battle. After the victory, the LORD instructed Moses, “Write this down on a scroll as a permanent reminder, and read it aloud to Joshua: I will ERASE THE MEMORY OF AMALEK from under heaven.” (Exodus 17:13-14) The Amalekites hold an exceptional place in the Old Testament. No other people are assigned a permanent place of dishonor, generation after generation.
God said to Israel, “Amalek attacked you on the way, when you were faint and weary, and struck down all who lagged behind you; AMALEK DID NOT FEAR GOD. Therefore when the Lord your God has given you rest from all your enemies on every hand, in the land that the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance to possess, you shall BLOT OUT THE REMEMBRANCE OF AMALEK from under heaven; do not forget” (Deut. 25:17–19). This shows us how and why God did not want any remembrance of Amalek, so Samuel Instructed King Saul, “…go and strike Amalek and utterly destroy all that he has, and DO NOT SPARE HIM; but PUT TO DEATH both man and woman, child and infant, ox and sheep, camel and donkey.” (1 Samuel 15:3) No remembrance of them shall be brought home…
Saul did his thing and disobeyed God, “Saul and the people SPARED King Agag and the best of the sheep, the oxen, the fatlings, the lambs, and all that was good, and were not willing to destroy them utterly…” (1 Samuel 15:9) This was Saul’s second act of disobedience so Samuel said to him, “the word of the LORD came to Samuel, saying, “I regret that I have made Saul king, for he has turned back from following Me and has not carried out My commands.” (1 Samuel 15:10-11) So Samuel found David and anointed him the be the next king… “After removing Saul, he made David their king. He testified concerning him: ‘I have found David son of Jesse, A MAN AFTER MY OWN HEART; he will do everything I want him to do’” (Acts 13:22).
