“I, the LORD, SEARCH (chaqar: to examine thoroughly) the heart, I TEST (bachan: to prove.) the mind, Even to give every man according to HIS WAYS, According to THE FRUIT of HIS DOINGS.” (Jer. 17:10) The Lord thoroughly examines us to find proof of why we do what we do and what results come from our doing. Why does He do this? He is looking for leadership during His thousand year reign. The Lord sends Jeremiah to observe how He works within us.
“I went down to the potter’s house, and there the potter was, making something at the wheel. And the vessel that he made of clay was marred…so he made it again into another vessel, as it seemed good to the potter…Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying: “…can I not do with you as this potter?” says the LORD. “Look, as the clay is in the potter’s hand, SO ARE YOU IN MY HAND…” (Jer. 18:3-6) The Lord has the ability to mold us and shape us as He would have us to be, just right for the work He has for us to do.
