“Above all, you must understand that in the last days, scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. They will say, “WHERE IS THIS ‘COMING‘ he promised?” (2 Peter 3:3-4)
Unfortunately, there, are professing Christians who live such unholy lives that they will hear Jesus’s dreadful words, “Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’” (Matt. 7:23). Paul says to those who profess to be believers, “…if you live according to the flesh, you will die…” (Romans 8:13).
Why is living a life of holiness so difficult today? Look at the word of God:
“…God has not called us for impurity, but IN 1HOLINESS. Therefore whoever disregards this, disregards not man but God, who gives his Holy Spirit to you.” (1 Thess. 4:7-8)
1hag-ee-as-mos’: sanctification, holiness, the process of making or becoming holy. The word of God and the will of God HAVE NOT CHANGED, we are still expected and empowered by God to live Holy Lives! The challenge in today’s world is it is ‘XXX’ rated, any one, young or old, can pull out their cell phone, search for and see very ungodly things! So, what must we do to keep ourselves pure?
“Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” (1 Peter 5:8)
We will be tempted all the more as the coming of the Lord draws near, so as Jude very wisely tells us:
“…you, beloved, building yourselves up on your MOST HOLY FAITH, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting anxiously for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life.” (Jude 1:20-21)
LET’S BE ABOUT BUILDING AND KEEPING OURSELVES IN GOD’S LOVE!
