“Hear this, all peoples! Give ear, all inhabitants of the world, BOTH LOW AND HIGH, RICH AND POOR TOGETHER…For all can see that the wise die, that the foolish and the senseless also perish, leaving their wealth to others…But GOD WILL REDEEM ME…he will surely take me to himself.” (Psalms 49:1-2,10,15)
One of the classic playground equipment pieces is the teeter-totter. There is one steady spot on the teeter-totter: the fulcrum. This pivot point does not move but remains stationary. This is just like life. Like the teeter-totter, there are high points and low points. Sometimes we soar high in the sky, laughing and enjoying everything around us. Other times there are lows, when we may sadly sink down. But in all of life there is one thing that remains the same through the highs and the lows: THE LOVE OF JESUS IS OUR FULCRUM, our balance, and submitting our lives to Him IS WHAT REDEEMS OUR SOULS!
“…greatly rejoice, even though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been distressed by various trials [highs and lows], so that the proof of your faith, being MORE PRECIOUS THAN GOLD which is perishable, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ…” (1 Peter 1:6-7)
No matter what we may be facing or have already faced, we need to: “…prepare our minds for action, keep sober in spirit, 1FIX OUR HOPE COMPLETELY ON THE GRACE [our fulcrum] …brought to us at the revelation of Jesus Christ.” (1 Peter 1:13). 1elpizó: to anticipate, expect; actively waiting for God’s fulfillment.
Thankfully, we are redeemed by God’s divine love!
