“As you therefore HAVE RECEIVED (paralambanō: to accept or acknowledge) CHRIST JESUS THE LORD, so WALK IN HIM, rooted, and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving. Beware lest anyone CHEAT YOU through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.” (Colossians 2:6-10)
When we make the decision in our lives to paralambanō the Lord, it means something supernatural happens in our very being, it indicates we have not been “…conformed to this world, but we have been TRANSFORMED (metamorphoō: to be divinely change into new person) by the RENEWING OF OUR MIND, that YOU (your newly transformed life) MAY PROVE what is that GOOD and ACCEPTABLE and PERFECT WILL of God.” (Romans 12:2) That allows us to be established in the faith, so we are able to WALK IN CHRIST. To do this we must “Study earnestly to present ourselves APPROVED TO GOD, a workman that does not need to be ashamed, RIGHTLY DIVIDING THE WORD OF TRUTH (teaching the Word of truth correctly).” (2 Timothy 2:15)
Because we have been TRANSFORMED and are minds are being RENEWED it is less likely that we will be CHEATED by someone’s “philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men” The reason for this is that “in Christ DWELLS ALL THE FULLNESS of the Godhead bodily” and we are COMPLETE (plēroō: to make full) in Christ.”
TO PROTECT OURSELVES WE MUST STUDY THE SCRIPTURES, DAILY, TO BE SURE THAT WE ARE NOT CHEATED.
