“SING to the LORD a new song; SING to the LORD, all the earth. SING to the LORD, praise his name; proclaim his salvation day after day. Declare his glory among the nations, his MARVELOUS DEEDS among all peoples.” (Psa. 96:1-3) [We are called three times here to sing unto the Lord; sing to the Father, to the Son, to the Holy Spirit! We have reason to sing frequently, and we need to be repeatedly reminded of it, and motivated to sing unto the Lord! We need to bless his name, think and speak well of him, so that we may encourage others to think well of him! A new song is a song for new blessings, for His kindnesses which is new every morning. A new song is the New Testament song, a song of praise for the new covenant and the exquisite privileges of that covenant. Let the subject-matter of this song be HIS SALVATION, the beautiful salvation that has been provided by the Lord Jesus; this is the cause of our joy and praise!] “For great is the LORD and most worthy of praise; he is to be feared above all gods. For all the gods of the nations are idols, but THE LORD MADE THE HEAVENS.” (Psa. 96:4-5) [Salvation by our Lord and savior Jesus Christ is spoken of as a work of wonder, in which the glory of God shines very brightly; in declaring that salvation we announce God’s glory as it shines in the face of Christ!] “Worship the LORD in the splendor of his holiness; TREMBLE BEFORE HIM, all the earth.” (Psa. 96:9) [To ‘tremble’ comes from the word “chûl” which means to twist or whirl in a circular or spiral manner, that is, specifically to dance. We dance in joy before our awesome God!] “Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad; let the sea resound, and all that is in it. Let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them; let all the trees of the forest sing for joy. LET ALL CREATION REJOICE BEFORE THE LORD, for he comes, he comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world in righteousness and the peoples in his faithfulness.” (Psa. 96:11-13) [The whole creation will have reason to rejoice in the setting up of Christ’s kingdom, even the sea and the field; for, because by the sin of the first Adam the whole creation was made subject to vanity, so by the grace of the second Adam it shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God!] “Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done. I AM THE ALPHA AND THE OMEGA, THE FIRST AND THE LAST, THE BEGINNING AND THE END.” (Rev. 22:12-13)
Be blessed as you praise The Lord, knowing that THE LORD IS COMING SOON TO ESTABLISH AN EVERLASTING KINGDOM!
