Solomon, considered as one of the wisest men to have ever lived, “…loved many foreign women…he had seven hundred wives…and three hundred concubines…when Solomon was old, his wives TURNED HIS HEART AFTER OTHER GODS; and HIS HEART WAS NOT LOYAL TO THE LORD HIS GOD, as was the heart of his father David.” (1 Kings 11:3-4) The proverbs of Solomon are deeply personal, since they were born out of Solomon’s personal struggles with his own foolishness. “So the LORD became angry with Solomon, because his heart had turned from the LORD God…who had appeared to him twice…commanded him…that he should not go after other gods; but HE DID NOT KEEP WHAT THE LORD HAD COMMANDED…the LORD said, “Because you have not kept My covenant and statutes…I will surely tear the kingdom away from you and give it to your servant.” (1 Kings 11:9-11)
So, WHAT CAN WE DO? “…take up THE WHOLE ARMOR OF GOD, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and HAVING DONE ALL, TO STAND. STAND, girding your waist with truth, put on the breastplate of righteousness, shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; take the shield of faith to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one, take the helmet of salvation, and the SWORD OF THE SPIRIT…the word of God; PRAYING ALWAYS with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful with all perseverance and supplication (the action of asking for something earnestly)…” (Eph. 6:13-18)
DRAW NEAR TO GOD AND HE WILL DRAW NEAR TO YOU…
