“Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. SET YOUR MINDS ON THINGS ABOVE, not on earthly things. FOR YOU DIED, AND YOUR LIFE IS NOW HIDDEN WITH CHRIST IN GOD. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then YOU ALSO WILL APPEAR WITH HIM IN GLORY. PUT TO DEATH, therefore, whatever belongs TO YOUR EARTHLY NATURE…Because of these, THE WRATH OF GOD IS COMING…whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.” (Col.3:1-6, 17)
Notice this powerful warning it the midst of all this instruction, “the wrath of God is coming” We are being warned that because all the sinful mess people have gotten themselves into, God is going to pour out His wrath, “Then I heard a loud voice from the temple saying to the seven angels, “Go, pour out the seven bowls of God’s wrath on the earth.” (Rev. 16:1) This will happen after, “…we who are still alive and are left will BE CAUGHT UP TOGETHER with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage one another with these words.” (1 Thess. 4:17-18)
