Up to this point Satan has taken everything from Job, all of his wealth, all of his seven sons and three daughters and everything else Job possessed. Job’s response to all this loss was “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, And naked shall I return there. The LORD GAVE, and the LORD HAS TAKEN AWAY; BLESSED BE THE NAME OF THE LORD.” In all this Job DID NOT SIN NOR CHARGE GOD WITH WRONG.” (Job 1:21-22)
“Then the LORD said to Satan, “Have you considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who fears God and shuns evil? And still HE HOLDS FAST TO HIS INTEGRITY, although you incited Me against him, to destroy him without cause.” So Satan answered the LORD and said, “Skin for skin! Yes, all that a man has he will give for his life. But stretch out Your hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will surely curse You to Your face!” And the LORD said to Satan, “Behold, he is in your hand but spare his life.” So, Satan went out from the presence of the LORD and STRUCK JOB WITH PAINFUL BOILS from the sole of his foot to the crown of his head.” (Job 2:3-7)
It has been commonly supposed that the disease of Job was a species of BLACK LEPROSY commonly called “elephantiasis,” which prevails much in Egypt. This disease received its name from elefas, “an elephant,” from the swelling produced by it, causing a resemblance to that animal in the limbs; or because it rendered the skin like that of the elephant, scabtons and dark colored. It is called by the Arabs judhām and is said to produce in the countenance a grim, distorted, and “lion-like” set of features, and hence has been called by some “Leontiasis.” It is known as the black leprosy. The disease of Job seems to have been a universal ulcer; producing an eruption over his entire person, and attended with VIOLENT PAIN, AND CONSTANT RESTLESSNESS.
And then Satan drew in “Jobs comforters” From Chapter 3 to Chapter 36 these men tried to BRING JOB DOWN with not so comforting words. “And so it was, that the LORD said to (Job’s so-called friends) “My wrath is aroused against you and your two friends, for you have not spoken of Me what is right, as My servant Job has. Now therefore, take for yourselves seven bulls and seven rams, go to My servant Job, and offer up for yourselves a burnt offering; and My servant Job SHALL PRAY FOR YOU. For I will accept him, lest I deal with you ACCORDING TO YOUR FOLLY (idiocy, stupidness); because you have not spoken of Me what is right, as My servant Job has.“ (Job 42:7-8)
IN THE END GOD HEALED JOB AND RESTORED TO HIM WAY MORE THAN HE LOST…
