“…now after you have known God, or rather are known by God, how is it that YOU TURN AGAIN TO THE WEAK AND BEGGARLY ELEMENTS, to which you desire again to be in bondage?” (Gal. 4:9) Christianity forbids idolatry, yet many practise spiritual idolatry in their hearts. FOR WHAT A MAN LOVES MOST, AND CARES MOST FOR, THAT IS HIS GOD: some have their riches for their god, some their pleasures, and some their lusts. And many IGNORANTLY WORSHIP A GOD OF THEIR OWN MAKING; a god made all of mercy and no justice. For they PERSUADE THEMSELVES that there is mercy for them with God, though they REPENT NOT, but GO ON IN THEIR SINS. “For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love SERVE ONE ANOTHER.” (Gal. 5:13) This is our opportunity to “Put on Christ” “For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have PUT ON CHRIST.” (Gal. 3:26-27) That’s not all we put on, “Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering…bearing with one another, and FORGIVING ONE ANOTHER, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also MUST DO. But above all these things PUT ON LOVE, which is the bond of perfection.” (Col. 3:12-14)
