Our commander Jesus Christ “urgently” commands us Amanda, to “pick up” our spiritual armor and “put it on.” Why? For the purpose of being FULLY PREPARED and enabled to withstand the grave and difficult “dark times” when the enemy attacks. “…take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to RESIST in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. STAND therefore, having girded your waist with TRUTH, having put on the breastplate of RIGHTEOUSNESS, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of PEACE; above all, taking the shield of FAITH with which you will be able to quench (extinguish) all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of SALVATION, and the sword of the SPIRIT, which is the word of God; PRAYING ALWAYS with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance (dedication) and supplication for all the saints—” (Eph. 6:13-18)
Satan’s first attack on man was lying Amanda, saying they would be gods. So we gird our waists with TRUTH protecting our hearts, his attack on David was to cause him to do an unrighteous act (committing adultery with Bathsheba). So we put on the breastplate of RIGHTEOUSNESS. Satan’s next attack was on Peter taking away his peace by causing him to sin against Jesus, so we put on PEACE. Jesus, the “Prince of Peace.” (Isaiah 9:6) Jesus says, “Peace, peace to them, both near and far, for I will heal them all.” (Isa. 57:19)
