“…God has NOT GIVEN US a spirit of fear, but of POWER and of LOVE and of a SOUND MIND.” (2 Tim. 1:7) We have all we need to do what God has called us to do! Remember this, “…the gifts and the calling of God are IRREVOCABLE (ametamelētos: without repentance, no changing our minds).” (Rom. 11:29) Lets just look something we are all called to do, PRAY, READ and WITNESS. We PRAY to connect with God, we READ the Bible, to learn about God, we WITNESS to share about God.
Jesus Christ was GOD THE SON and of course, the Son of God, it is clear that His ministry was empowered by the Holy Spirit! As John the Baptist was baptizing Jesus, “…THE HOLY SPIRIT DESCENDED in bodily form like a dove UPON HIM, and a voice came from heaven which said, “You are My beloved Son; in You I am well pleased.” (Luke 3:22) John testified, “I saw the Holy Spirit descending like a dove from heaven and resting upon Jesus.” (John 1:32)
The Holy Spirit led Him to be tested, and empowered Him. When He went into the wilderness to do battle with Satan, He went “full of the Spirit” “Then Jesus, being filled with the Holy Spirit, was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, being tempted for forty days by the devil…” (Luke 4:1-2) If Christ needed and relied on the Holy Spirit in His ministry, then how much more do his disciples? He told them that they must wait for power to come upon them before setting off on His mission, “Behold, I send THE PROMISE OF MY FATHER upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high.” (Luke 24:49) This was the promise of the coming of the Holy Spirit, the third Person in the Godhead.
Remember, without God, we can’t accomplish anything: “Unless the LORD builds the house, they labor in vain who build it; unless the LORD guards the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.” (Psa. 127:1) “… without Me you can DO NOTHING“ (John 15:5) So we need help, that why Jesus says, “…when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will GUIDE YOU into ALL TRUTH; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you THINGS TO COME.” (John 16:13)
“YOU ALSO MUST BE READY, BECAUSE THE SON OF MAN WILL COME AT AN HOUR WHEN YOU DO NOT EXPECT HIM.” (Matt. 24:44)
