“…one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus, when he saw Jesus, HE FELL AT HIS FEET.” (Mark 5:22) This was the PROPER PRAYER POSTURE when meeting Jesus, although unusual for a ruler of the synagogue. “…he BEGGED JESUS EARNESTLY, “My little daughter lies at the point of death. Come and LAY YOUR HANDS ON HER, that she may be healed, and she will live.” (Mark 5:23) This was an PROPER PRAYER REQUEST to Jesus.
“…some came from the ruler’s house… “Your daughter is dead. Why trouble the Teacher any further?” As soon as Jesus heard the word…He said to the ruler of the synagogue, “DO NOT BE AFRAID; only believe.” (Mark 5:35-36) This is the PROPER way to PUT DOWN FEAR. “Jesus said to them, “Why make this commotion and weep? The child IS NOT DEAD, but sleeping.” And they ridiculed Him. But when He had put them all outside, He took the father and the mother of the child, and entered where the child was lying. Then He took the child by the hand, and said to her, “Talitha, cumi,” which is translated, “Little girl, I say to you, arise.” IMMEDIATELY the girl arose and walked…And they were OVERCOME with GREAT AMAZEMENT.” (Mark 5:39-42) This is A PROPER PRAISE, offered to the Lord. So, how can we be OVERCOME WITH GREAT TRUST?
We must take these PROPER STEPS:
- Assume a prayer posture.
- Make our prayer request.
- Put down fear.
- Offer praise.
