OUR NEED TO TRUST IN GOD…

  • He who DWELLS (yâshab: to inhabit) in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.(Psalms 91:1) What is the secret place of the Most High? The word ‘secret’ simply means a place of protection, defense, assurance, a refuge, a fortress. It is THE PLACE OF GOD’S DEFENSE AND REFUGE, where the soul may find rest, where there is no trouble or fear but absolute confidence in God because you know that you are protected. Most High simply means the highest One;
  • I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I WILL TRUST.” (Psalms 91:2) TRUST IN THE LORD with ALL your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and He will SHOW YOU which path to take. (Proverbs 3:5-6) It is better to TRUST IN THE LORD Than to put confidence in man. It is better to TRUST IN THE LORD Than to put confidence in princes. (Psalms 118:8-9) See, God has come to save me. I will TRUST IN HIM and not be afraid. The LORD GOD is my strength and my song; HE HAS GIVEN ME VICTORY. (Isaiah 12:2)
  • For He will rescue you from EVERY TRAP and PROTECT YOU FROM DEADLY DISEASE.(Psalms 91:3) “Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy! I LOOK TO YOU FOR PROTECTION. I will hide beneath the shadow of your wings until the danger passes by.” (Psalms 57:1)
  • He will cover you with His wings. Under the feathers of His wings you will find safety. He is faithful. He will keep you safe like a shield or a tower.(Psalms 91:4) The Psalmist is using the metaphor of a bird with his mother. God is the protective mother who feeds, nurtures, and protects her young. The image is meant to invoke SAFETY AND WARMTH WHEN WE DWELL IN GOD.
  • You will not be afraid of the terror of night, Nor of the arrow that flies by day, Nor of the pestilence that stalks in darkness, Nor of the destruction (sudden death) that lays waste at noon. (Psalms 91:5-6) At night when evil accidents are most terrible and least avoidable. The sense of the verse is, we shall be kept from secret and open mischiefs at all times. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I WILL FEAR NO EVIL; For YOU ARE WITH ME; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. (Psalms 23:4)
