“…do you not know that your body is THE TEMPLE of the Holy Spirit WHO IS IN YOU, whom you have from God, and you ARE NOT YOUR OWN? For you were bought at a price; therefore GLORIFY GOD IN YOUR BODY AND IN YOUR SPIRIT, which ARE GOD’S.” (1 Corin. 6:19-20)
Paul pleads for us to recognize that our bodies are NOT OUR OWN but belong to God. Having been bought by the price of Christ’s death on the cruel cross. We don’t have ANY RIGHT to give our bodies over to sexual sins as described in this chapter of Corinthians. For many, a lot of their lives are wasted on the assumption that sinful things were the best things to bring pleasure.
Young people aged 15–24 years acquire half of all new STDs (sexually transmitted diseases) and that one in four sexually-active adolescent females has an STD. In 2018, there were 1,758,668 reported cases of STD infections among persons aged 15–24 years of age. 1,441,789 reported in 2014 that is almost 317,000 more cases in just 4 years. In 1995 there were only about 200,00o cases reported. Sorry for such alarming news but this shows us how we must be in INTENSIVE INTERCESSORY PRAYER for our young people!!!
Our bodies are intended, by God, to be a HOLY TEMPLE FOR GOD’S HOLY SPIRIT! Many people believe, “It’s my body, and I can treat it any way I like.” But what does the Word of God say? “I will praise You, for I AM FEARFULLY and WONDERFULLY MADE; Marvelous are YOUR WORKS, And that my soul knows very well.” (Psa. 139:14) Jesus answered the Jewish leaders question about the temple, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.” Then the Jews said, “It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and will You raise it up in three days?” But the temple he had spoken of was HIS BODY.” (John 2:19-21) Because remember, “…your body is THE TEMPLE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT WHO IS IN YOU…(1 Corin. 6:19-20)
