As ESSENTIAL as the scriptures are to our spiritual health it may surprise us to know that the number of persons who CHERISH reading and studying the bible has decreased from 9% to 5% in the past year. The other trend is that more than one-third of adults (35%) reports NEVER using the Bible in 2019!!! God said to His people, “Be careful to follow EVERY COMMAND I am giving you today…He humbled you…to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on EVERY WORD that comes from the MOUTH OF THE LORD.” (Deut. 8:1-3)
The Lord touched my heart early this morning with this inspiration, “In the beginning was THE WORD, and THE WORD was with God, and THE WORD was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were created by Him.” (John 1:1-3) So, just to be clear, Who is THE WORD? “I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse…He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called THE WORD OF GOD.” (Rev. 19:11-13) Jesus Christ is the Word of God… Let’s see how this began.
“…the Spirit of God (The Holy Spirit) was hovering over the face of the waters. Then GOD SAID, “Let there be light”; and there was light.” (Gen. 1:2-3) We see God the Father and God the Holy Spirit, where is God the Son??? (We accept this by faith), out of God’s mouth came THE WORD OF GOD!!! And all things were CREATED BY HIM! So, when did Jesus receive His body, “…THE WORD became flesh and DWELT AMONG US, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.” (John 1:14) Now look at this verse, “All Scripture is GOD–BREATHED and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, that the man of God may be COMPLETE, EQUIPPED for every good work.” (2 Tim. 3:16-17)
God’s Word, The WORD Of God, is BREATHED INTO US to COMPLETE and EQUIP us to share the gospel, the LIVING gospel the POWERFUL gospel.
