“The backslider (sûg: to turn or move away) in heart will be filled with his own ways, But a good man will be satisfied from above.” (Proverbs 14:14) “For the WRATH OF GOD IS REVEALED from heaven AGAINST ALL UNGODLINESS AND UNRIGHTEOUSNESS of men, who SUPPRESS (katechō: to hold back, to restrain) THE TRUTH IN UNRIGHTEOUSNESS…they are without excuse, because, although they knew God, THEY DID NOT GLORIFY HIM AS GOD, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened.” (Romans 1:18-21)
Why does this happen? “…the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that YOU DO NOT DO the things that you wish.” (Galatians 5:17)
How do we get back in relationship with God?
- ACKNOWLEDGE YOUR FAILURE: “you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’—and DO NOT KNOW that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked.” (Revelation 3:17) Recognize this short coming in your life!
- ASK FOR FORGIVENESS: “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to FORGIVE US our sins and CLEANSE US from all unrighteousness. (1 John.1:9) “Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline, so be zealous and REPENT.” (Revelation 3:19) God made it very easy for you to get up when you have fallen. Yes, you might be out of touch but now that you are ready to repent and fully turn away from your sin, He is opening His arms wide ready to receive you.
- GOD WILL HELP YOU BLAZE AGAIN AND SET THE WORLD ON FIRE: “When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, AS OF FIRE, AND ONE SAT UPON EACH OF THEM.” (Acts 2:1-3) Set us on fire Lord. “Let your light SO SHINE before men, that they MAY SEE your good works and GLORIFY YOUR FATHER in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16)
