“Timothy, my dear son, be strong through the grace that God gives you in Christ Jesus…Now teach these truths to other trustworthy people who will be able to pass them on to others. Endure suffering along with me, as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. Soldiers don’t get tied up in the affairs of civilian life, for then they cannot please the officer who enlisted them…So I am willing TO ENDURE ANYTHING IF IT WILL BRING SALVATION and eternal glory in Christ Jesus to those God has chosen. This is a trustworthy saying: If we die with Him, we will also live with Him. If we endure hardship, we will reign with Him…” (2 Tim. 2:1-4, 10-12)
David expressed this attitude we must have ETHAN, KATIE, “Lord, I am not proud and haughty. I don’t think myself better than others. I don’t pretend to “KNOW IT ALL.” I am quiet now before the Lord, just as a child who is weaned from the breast. Yes, my begging has been stilled…you too should quietly TRUST IN THE LORD—now, and always.” (Psa. 131:1-3)
WHAT IS DAVID SAYING?
- DAVID AIMED AT NOTHING HIGH OR GREAT: This was David’s rejoicing, that his heart could witness for him that he had walked humbly with his God. “The LORD has sought for Himself a man (David) after HIS OWN HEART…“ (1 Sam. 13:14)
- DAVID WAS VERY AT EASE IN EVERY CONDITION WHICH GOD ALLOWED HIM IN: Whatever he did and where ever God wanted to be, David, “…would GIVE THANKS to the LORD for His goodness, And for His wonderful works to the children of men!” (Psa. 107:8)
- DAVID ENCOURAGES ALL GOOD PEOPLE TO TRUST IN GOD JUST AS HE DID: David told Saul, “Your servant has killed both lion and bear; and this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, seeing he has defied the armies of the living God.” (1 Sam. 17:36)
We must remember this, “Whatever you do, do it with ALL YOUR HEART, as working for the Lord…” (Col. 3:23)
