“…the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men. For you see your calling, brethren, that NOT MANY WISE, MIGHTY, or NOBLE according to the flesh, are called. But God has chosen the FOOLISH THINGS of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the WEAK THINGS of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; and the BASE THINGS of the world and the things WHICH ARE DESPISED GOD HAS CHOSEN, and the things which ARE NOT, to bring to nothing the things that are, that NO FLESH SHOULD GLORY IN HIS PRESENCE.” (1 Corin. 1:25-29)
OK AMY, let’s not be offended by this list of all that WE ARE NOT. When we accept Jesus Christ as Lord and redeemer we become God’s children, His heirs, and a co-heir with Jesus Christ, who as God’s son, becomes our brother in the wonderful family of God. We are forgiven of all our sins and are given the power, by sanctification, to RESIST SIN. We are given power, “Behold, I give you the authority (power) to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over ALL THE POWER OF THE ENEMY, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” (Luke 10:19)
We have power over all the devils power AMY, but what about the world all around us? “We know that we are children of God, and that THE WHOLE WORLD is under the control of THE EVIL ONE.” (1 John 5:19) This power we have been given will help us to win the lost with the gospel of Christ, as we once “…WERE DEAD in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air (the devil), the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient.” (Eph. 2:1-2) Jesus being King, rules over all authority from the heavenly realm which overtakes this earthly realm. We being under Christ’ authority have POWER OVER THE ENEMY and his influences but AMY, this is the very reason why Satan tries to entice us to operate in the flesh so that we may be under his subjection and powerless. So, we must be careful to WALK IN THE SPIRIT because it is only in and under THE AUTHORITY OF CHRIST THAT WE HAVE ALL POWER OVER the devil…
