“Pray…in this way: ‘Our Father…YOUR KINGDOM COME. YOUR WILL BE DONE’, [IN US as earthen vessels] as it is in heaven.” (Matt. 6:9-10)
Many years ago, I began memorizing verses from the KJV. One significant difference I noticed was in the Lord’s prayer, the “in earth” vs. “on earth” issue. When I prayed this, I assumed the meaning was in me as an earthen vessel! Now, how did I come to this conclusion?
“…if our Gospel be hidden, it is hidden to those who are…lost. FOR THE GOD OF THIS WORLD HAS BLINDED THE UNBELIEVERS’ MINDS…!” (2 Corin. 4:3-4)
When Jesus comes back he mentions one of His tasks:
“Now is the judgment of this world; now will THE RULER OF THIS WORLD BE CAST OUT.” (John 12:31)
When Adam submitted his will to Satan, disobeying God and causing the sin nature to pass down to all man, the devil became the God of this world! That is why the Lord was tempted by the devil to become the ruler of this world:
“…the devil took him [Jesus] to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. “ALL THIS I WILL GIVE YOU,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.” (Matt. 4:8-9)
In the prayer Jesus prayed for us, He said this…
“I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are NOT OF THE WORLD any more than I am of the world. My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. THEY ARE NOT OF THE WORLD, EVEN AS I AM NOT OF IT.” (John 17:14-16)
♫My God, my Father, make me strong,
When tasks of life seem hard and long,
To greet them with this triumph song,
THY WILL BE DONE.
Let’s pray “Your will be done in me, Abba Father!” …Bill Stockham
