The LORD God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper 1suitable for him.” (Gen. 2:18) helper: someone who helps or gives assistance. 1neged: in front of and opposite to.
It is interesting that the first reference God makes to something not being good about His creation was the recognition that it was not good FOR MAN TO BE ALONE. Specifically, He was referring to the yet to be created woman.
“Now the LORD God had formed…all…animals and birds…So, the man gave names to all…birds…and all animals. But for Adam NO SUITABLE HELPER WAS FOUND.” (Gen. 2:19-20)
Above all other creatures, God created humans with an innate desire for personal, intimate relationship with one another. Adam recognized this critical difference.
“So, the LORD God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep…he took one of the man’s ribs and then closed up the place with flesh. Then the LORD God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.” (Gen. 2:21-22)
All of God’s creation was from the dust of the ground but woman was created from man’s rib to affirm the personal, intimate nature or their relationship.
The man said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman,’ for she was taken out of man.” (Gen. 2:23)
Now we see what God’s plan was from the very beginning! Well, somewhere along the line things must have become confusing because today God’s plan is ignored by so many people, who will fight for their right to do “their own thing!” So, we must do as Jude says:
“For certain…ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into a license for immorality…remember what the apostles…foretold. They said to you, “In the last times there will be scoffers who will follow their own ungodly desires…the people who divide you…But you, dear friends, by BUILDING YOURSELVES UP in your most holy faith and PRAYING IN THE HOLY SPIRIT, KEEP yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.” (Jude 1:4, 17-21)
