Moses was up on the mountain with God, receiving the ten commandments, while the Israelites were creating and worshiping idols. God sent Moses down to fix it. Arron said to Moses, “They said, ‘Make us gods who will lead us…So I told them, ‘Whoever has gold jewelry, take it off.’ When they brought it to me, I simply threw it into the fire—and OUT CAME THIS CALF!” (Exo. 32:23-24)
NO, this “calf” DID NOT JUST COME OUT. It was formed by Aaron, who Moses selected as Israel’s spokesman, because Moses refused to accept God’s plan.
God chose Moses to lead His chosen people out of Egyptian bondage.“Moses said to the LORD, “O my Lord, I am not eloquent, I am SLOW OF SPEECH AND SLOW OF TONGUE.” (Exo. 4:10) This is what was said of Moses, “Moses was educated in all the wisdom of the Egyptians and was POWERFUL IN SPEECH and action.” (Acts 7:22) Moses wanted to do it HIS WAY and not GOD’S WAY, as result about three thousand rebellious Israelites died as they danced around naked worshiping the gold calf.
If we want something too much, it can become our greatest enemy of our relationship with God, and a threat to our obedience. Why? Because Satan can use what we long for most to SEDUCE US INTO SIN!
ALWAYS DO WHAT YOU DO GOD’S WAY…
