[No common or uncommon foe, even of the most damaging nature, can destroy LOVE WHEN IT IS PURE; and PURE LOVE (agapaō in Greek) is such that nothing can be used to secure it, because is created by our Abba Father. If must be attained divinely, no money can purchase it, no property can acquire it, no arts can persuade it!]
“Many waters CANNOT QUENCH LOVE; rivers cannot sweep it away. If one were to give all the wealth of one’s house for love, it would be utterly scorned.” (Song of Sol. 8:7)
[Abraham desired earnestly to be let into THE MYSTERY OF REDEMPTION; and Abba Father, wanted to instruct him in the immeasurable nature of the Divine love of mankind, He would not spare not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, so He allowed Abraham, whom God would use to be the father of His nation, feel by experience what it was to lose a beloved son, the son born miraculously when Sarah was past child-bearing, as Jesus was miraculously born of a virgin!]
“Then God said, “Take your son, your only son, whom you love–Isaac–and go to the region of Moriah. SACRIFICE HIM THERE AS A BURNT OFFERING on a mountain I will show you.” (Gen. 22:2)
[Such a love which persuaded God to give his only begotten son to die for the world could not be described: Jesus Christ does not attempt it. He has put an eternity of meaning in this act of love, and left a subject for everlasting meditation, wonder, and praise, to angels and to men.]
“For God SO LOVED THE WORLD THAT HE GAVE his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but TO SAVE THE WORLD THROUGH HIM.” (John 3:16-17)
[So, how may we be used of our Abba Father to demonstrate this love of God?]
“See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called CHILDREN OF GOD! And THAT IS WHAT WE ARE! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that WHEN CHRIST APPEARS, WE SHALL BE LIKE HIM, for we shall see him as he is. All who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure. This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And WE OUGHT TO LAY DOWN OUR LIVES FOR OUR BROTHERS AND SISTERS.” (1 John 3:1-3, 16)
AWESOME PROMISE; WE SHALL BE LIKE HIM!
