“For God is not the author of confusion, but OF PEACE…” (1 Corin. 14:33)
What an awesome statement: “God is not the author of 1confusion!” 1akatastasia: instability, a state of disorder, disturbance, confusion. Confusion or instability is the source of many of our problems in this world today! Why? People do NOT REALLY BELIEVE GOD can do what He says He can do! Often, we lack the wisdom we need to be persuaded to believe God…
“if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, WHO GIVES TO ALL GENEROUSLY and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind. For that man, ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord, being a 1DOUBLE-MINDED MAN, unstable in all his ways.” (James 1:5-8)
1dipsuchos: wavering, uncertain, doubting. So, we know that God is not about confusion, why then do we have problems with being uncertain and confused?
“…the devil…does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” (John 8:44).
The devil will do anything he can do to cause confusion and instability in our lives leading us to doubt God. So, what are we to do?
“Submit therefore to God. Resist the DEVIL and he WILL FLEE from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.” (James 4:7-8)
- Submit
- Resist
- The devil will flee
- Draw near
- God will draw near
