“Come close to God, and God will COME CLOSE TO YOU…” (Jam. 4:8) God will never intrude into our lives, He’ll only come when He is invited, “Let us therefore COME BOLDLY to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” (Heb. 4:16) We can come boldly because we know it’s God’s desire to be merciful to us… “The LORD is gracious and full of compassion, Slow to anger and GREAT IN MERCY. The LORD is good to all, And HIS TENDER MERCIES ARE OVER ALL HIS WORKS.” (Psa. 145:8-9)
Moses struggled with his relationship with God AMY, he saw the many miracles but did not really know God, So Moses said, “Now therefore, I pray, if I have found grace in Your sight, show me THAT I MAY KNOW (yāḏaʿ: to know by experiencing intimacy with) YOU… Now the LORD descended in the cloud and stood with Moses there, and proclaimed the name of the LORD. And the LORD passed before him and proclaimed, “The LORD, the LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth…” (Exodus 33:13, 34:5-6)
Moses was raised in the home of the Pharaoh, Ramses II, a very evil man. There were no bibles in those days, Moses did not really know who God was. When God asked Moses to lead the people out of bondage, he said “NO.” When the Lord revealed Himself to Moses, “Moses made haste and bowed his head toward the earth, AND WORSHIPED.” (Exodus 34:8) This was the first time Moses worshiped God, now he knew who God was!
