LET’S DO GOOD, AMANDA…

“…let us not GROW WEARY WHILE DOING GOOD, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.(Gal. 6:9-10) In order for us not to grow weary or lose heart, we have to make sure that our motivations are in order. Why do we serve and bless people? Is it because we expect appreciation and love and thankfulness in return? Or is it because it is what we sense God is asking of us, no matter how it is received? How can you believe, you who receive honor from one another and do not seek the honor THAT COMES FROM GOD ONLY?(John 5:44)

If we are motivated by people appreciating us AMANDA, then we will never be satisfied. After all, those around us have a human nature just like we do and that means that we don’t always express thanks, don’t always notice the details of how far someone went to make it nice for us, or how much work it took “behind the scenes.” That doesn’t mean that people are unkind or unthankful, but they can only see part of the picture. If our happiness is dependent on them, then we are always going to be disappointed. It’s not important who does the planting, or who does the watering. What’s important is that God MAKES THE SEED GROW.(1 Corin. 3:7)

Let’s make sure we are living right and that we are not, “…overcome by evil, but that we overcome evil with good.(Rom. 12:21)
