“In JESUS WAS LIFE, and THAT LIFE WAS THE LIGHT OF ALL MANKIND…There was a man sent from God whose name was John. He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all might believe. He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light. THE TRUE LIGHT that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, He gave the right TO BECOME CHILDREN OF GOD—” (John 1:4, 6-12)
Notice how it says: “In Jesus was life and that LIFE WAS THE LIGHT…” So, not only is Jesus the light of the world but He is the life of the world…That is what being “born again” is all about, our eyes are opened to the light of the world and we receive new life; “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is A NEW CREATURE; the old things passed away; behold, NEW THINGS HAVE COME.” (2 Corin. 5:17) Jesus gives us the opportunity to start out with all things new, walking in new light…
“…if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son CLEANSES US FROM ALL SIN.” (1 John 1:7)
