Let me share something with you about the Word of God. When God said “Let there be light….” There was no hesitation, INSTANTLY, THERE WAS LIGHT. What was the source of this light, was it the sun? No, the sun was not created until day four. Jesus was the source of this light, Jesus said: “…I am the LIGHT of the world.” (John 9:5). The point here is that when the Word of God is spoken, something happens! Now, here is what I think is very amazing, WE, are created in the likeness of God.
“Then God said, “Let us make mankind IN OUR IMAGE, IN OUR LIKENESS (dem-oth‘: similarity, sameness)…” (Gen. 1:26-27) About 2,800 years ago God said through Hosea, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge” (Hosea 4:6). God fervently desires that His people know Him. From Romans 10:17 we find that “faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.” That means that we should be reading His Word EVERY DAY! Jesus, who reminds us, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God” (Matt. 4:4). We must feast on the Word of God and put the Scriptures in our heart!
That is why Jesus told His disciples: “Have faith in God. “Truly I say to you, WHOEVER SAYS TO THIS MOUNTAIN, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is going to happen, IT WILL BE GRANTED HIM.” (Mark 11:22-23)
Oh yes, and about the light of the world, Jesus says to us: “YOU ARE the light of the world…” (Matt. 5:14)
