“As many as I love, I REBUKE AND CHASTEN. Therefore BE ZEALOUS AND REPENT. BEHOLD, I STAND AT THE DOOR AND KNOCK. If ANYONE hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.” (Rev. 3:19-21)
The nature of the love of Jesus Christ is, everlasting and absolute, it is matchless and inconceivable, it is strong and affectionate, and it is just as the Father loved His Son; so, when we are rebuked by Christ, it is not in a way of wrath, but in a tender manner, in order to bring us under conviction of our sin, of our foolishness in trusting in, or loving any creature more than the creator, and of all our wrong ways; and we are chastened by Him, not in a malicious, but in a fatherly way, which is instructive and teaching us, and for our good. This happens because “…God SO LOVED the world THAT HE GAVE His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him SHOULD NOT PERISH but have EVERLASTING LIFE. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through HIM MIGHT BE SAVED.” (John 3:16-17)
