JUST WHO IS GOD, AMY…

These things I have spoken to you, that in Me YOU MAY HAVE PEACE. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I HAVE OVERCOME THE WORLD.” (John 16:33)  Jesus, the Son of God, went through hell on earth to GIVE US PEACE beyond this world. So AMY, if Jesus did that for us and is living eternally in us, then we have no reason to fear. We have peace because JESUS IS OUR PEACE.

The LORD is a REFUGE (sanctuary, shelter) for the oppressed, a STRONGHOLD in times of trouble. Those who KNOW YOUR NAME trust in you, for you, LORD, have NEVER FORSAKEN those who seek you. (Psa. 9:9-10) This is not just knowing His name AMY, it’s about KNOWING WHO HE IS!

When God was calling Moses to lead  the Israelites out of Egypt, Moses asked God “…who should I say sent me?” “God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: 1I AM has sent me to you.” (Exo. 3:14) 1hayah: to exist, be in existence. God is saying I now exist, I have always existed and will ALWAYS EXISTThis is a poetic expression of God’s very nature AMY. The Israelites questioned Jesus about who He was, He said “Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM. Then they took up stones to throw at Him; but Jesus hid Himself (He was still there but they could not see Him) and went out of the temple, GOING THROUGH THE MIDST OF THEM, and so passed by.(John 8:58-59)

These are some of the “Jehovah derivatives” describing God’s characteristics.

  • Jehovah Nissi (The Lord My Banner)
  • Jehovah-Raah (The Lord My Shepherd)
  • Jehovah Rapha (The Lord That Heals)
  • Jehovah Shammah (The Lord Is Always There)
  • Jehovah Tsidkenu (The Lord Our Righteousness)
  • Jehovah M’Kaddesh (The Lord Who Sanctifies You)
  • Jehovah Jireh (The Lord Will Provide)
  • Jehovah Shalom (The Lord Is Peace)

These are some of the natures of God.

  • Omnipotence (God has complete and total control over everything.)
  • Omniscience (God is all-knowing. This means God knows everything, including the past, present and future. There is nothing God is unaware of.)
  • Omnipresence (God is everywhere at the same time. God is distinct from the universe, but inhabits the entirety of it.)

God is all this and He is our Father, so we are His heirs and we are co-heirs with Jesus Christ our Lord.
