“For the word of God is ALIVE AND 1ACTIVE. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12)
1energēs: active, effective, powerful. Shortly after I was born again my desire was to share my experience with others. So, I would share my testimony and without getting much response. It meant so much to me I thought for sure it would mean something to my friends, but not so! My testimony was not “alive” to others, so, I began to seek the Lord and He showed me that there is “life” in the Word of God. At my next opportunity to share I asked the person if they knew that “…all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God…” (Rom. 3:23) and “…the wages of sin is death…” (Rom. 6:23a). Now, this is the word of God and it is alive and powerful…that’s Gods promise! “…but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Rom. 6:23b). It has not been unusual for them to ask me “how do I get this free gift?” This is when I tell them to “Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord” (Acts 3:19) When we have obeyed God and delivered His word, it will penetrate and judge and then
“…God gave the increase.” (1 Corin. 3:6)
