King Cyrus dug cannels and diverted and “dried up” the Euphrates River away from the palace and his army came in under the walls of the city and defeated Babylon, God said this before Cyrus was born, God showed this to Isaiah, “I am the One I will make your rivers dry up. “It is I who says of Cyrus, ‘He is My shepherd, and he will carry out all My desire.’ And he says of Jerusalem, ‘She will be built,’ And of the temple, ‘Your foundation will be laid.’” King Cyrus actually pays to have God’s Temple rebuilt. (Isaiah 44:27-28) And there is more, “This is what the LORD says to Cyrus His anointed, Whom I have taken by the right hand, “I will go before you and make the rough places smooth; I will shatter the doors of bronze and cut through their iron bars.” (Isaiah 45:1-2)
While Cyrus and his army was entering the city, “Belshazzar the king held a great feast for a thousand of his nobles…he gave orders to bring the gold and silver vessels which his father Nebuchadnezzar had taken out of the temple (these were holy vessels) which was in Jerusalem…they drank the wine and praised the gods of gold and silver, of bronze, iron, wood, and stone. Suddenly the fingers of a human hand emerged and began writing on the plaster of the wall…the king saw the back of the hand that did the writing. Then the king’s face became pale and his hip joints loosened and HIS KNEES BEGAN KNOCKING TOGETHER.” (Daniel 5:1-6)
The Queen told Belshazzar about Daniel so they got him, “Then Daniel replied and said before the king, “O king, the Most High God granted sovereignty, greatness this is what happened, “…the hand WAS SENT FROM GOD and this inscription was written out. “Now this is the inscription that was written: ‘MENĒ, MENĒ, TEKĒL, UPHARSIN.’ “This is the interpretation of the message: ‘MENĒ’—God has NUMBERED YOUR KINGDOM AND PUT AN END TO IT. “‘TEKĒL’—you have been weighed on the scales and found deficient. “‘PERĒS’—your kingdom has been divided and given to the Medes and Persians.” (Daniel 5:17-28)
That same night Belshazzar the Chaldean king was killed. (Daniel 5:30)
